POSTED: 9:52 pm MDT June 14, 2012UPDATED: 11:41 pm MDT June 14, 2012MISSOULA, Mont. -- Montana Republicans said they had a record turnout for the GOP convention that kicked off Thursday in Missoula.State GOP leaders said they have big expectations for the November elections, and they said the hundreds of people who signed up for the convention only gives them more confidence.?There's a lot of excitement among all the ranks of the Republican party right now," said Montana GOP Communications Director Chris Shipp.Shipp said if turnout in the primaries is any indicator, Republicans can look forward to big gains in November"We have a grass roots base that is very enthusiastic about our prospects in November. We could see that in the primary election results - how many more people in Montana decided to vote the Republican ballot."Congressman Denny Rehberg, who?s challenging incumbent Senator Jon Tester for his senate seat, will give a keynote address Friday night. Former Speaker of the House and Presidential Candidate Newt Gingrich is the keynote speaker on Saturday morning."I think it's about our turn,? said Montana GOP Delegate Christy Clark. ?We've got a lot of things to be proud of in this state.
