Waste Management has announced that it has completed construction of its new gas-to-energy plant at the Pine Tree Acres Renewable Energy Facility in Lenox township of Michigan, US.
Designed to generate 12.8MW of electricity, the plant caters to 12,000 homes in the state of Michigan.
"By converting waste into energy for more than 12,000 residents, the new Pine Tree Acres Green Energy Plant represents the best of having tomorrow's technology here and now," said Waste Management Senior District Manager Chuck Cassie.
The plant is situated on 14.5 acres of land and uses 4,800 cubic feet per minute of landfill gas to produce electricity.
Combined with other gas-to-energy plants in Pinewood, Waste Management produces 21.6MW energy catering to 19,500 homes in the area.
