Board?Games
?? I recently watched On Golden Pond again and was struck by what raucous fun the family was having playing board games. At one point, Henry Fonda yells ?Oh, damn!? Kathryn Hepburn thoroughly trounces him with the words, ?Goodnight, sweet prince!?
It reminded me of the good times we used to have playing board games. So tonight, the family?got out the box and we all played Clue.?It?s a new version, and the mansion has changed.?Instead of a conservatory, there?s now a spa,?home theater, and swimming pool. But the excitement?was the same. ?Ah ha! It was done by Colonel Mustard, in the library, with the wrench.? What fun.
It reminded me of when Jaime was little, and we played so many games. Remember these?
- Candyland
- Monopoly
- Backgammon
- Yahtzee
- Hungry Hippos
- Checkers
One of our favorites was a three-dimensional game called Hotels. I looked for it online, but it was very rare and now costs $349 on Amazon. I found one for $70 on eBay, but that?s still rather expensive for a cardboard game. I?ll keep searching for it.
Our old games didn?t survive the years and the move to Arizona. We placed Clue on a prominent?shelf and vowed to start a new collection of?games.
Good old-fashioned family fun. It made me happy.
